Elizabeth O'Reilly - Tackling the Landscape On SiteAugust 14—19, 2016
Medium: Oil, Acrylic
Level: All Levels
Tuition: $675 | Lab Fee: $25
The workshop will be conducted primarily in oil, however students are welcome to work in acrylic or water-based oils. Students will be helped in setting up to paint, and specific projects related to composition, color and other formal issues are assigned. Starting with quick studies and limited color palettes students will build up to longer one-day paintings. Each student will be encouraged to choose their own painting sites, with input from the instructor, and develop a body of work that reflects their own interests. This is important in learning how to choose a painting spot and develop work away from the workshop environment. An important component will be learning how to sketch and note-take so as to hone observational skills in order to paint away from the site. Daily group critiques are an important component as well as one-on-one instruction and demonstrations.
