    This workshop will offer artists experimental approaches to combining paint, textural mediums, fabric, ink, ephemera and collage to your work to make a successful composition.  Besides the basic introduction to substrates, acrylic mediums and the techniques of combining processes, there are opportunities to decorate papers.  Some of the processes will include stamping,  layering, texturing, stenciling, collage and simplified printing. 
    The workshop will be high energy, encouraging your spirit of adventure while bringing new life to your paintings through experimenting and sharing. You will learn important methods to critique your own work and develop your own personal style. Think of it as an artistic journey with unlimited inspiration provided by a pair of innovative instructors.   



    Lynne Bland

    Lynn Corsi Bland, holds a BFA degree is from Florida State University. She works in painting, drawing, sewing, and encaustic with found objects. She has exhibited in numerous shows including The Arrowmont School of Arts Biennial juried exhibition, Gatlinburg, Tennessee, The National Collage Society Annual Exhibitions, Hudson, Ohio, The Jack Art Gallery Juried Encaustic Show, Atlanta, Georgia, The National Collage Society Postcard Show, New York, New York, The 2011 Sketchbook Project, Brooklyn, New York, Mason Maurer Fine Art, Atlanta, Georgia, and Encaustic Art Institute Annual juried exhibition, Santa Fe, NM. Her work is in the permanent collection of the Museum of Encaustic Art, Santa Fe, NM and the Brooklyn Art Library, NY,NY.  She has received awards and been featured in numerous magazine publications. Publications include: Material Visions, Signatures, Art Doll Quarterly, Best of Stampington and Company: Hancrafted.


    Sandee Johnson holds an MS from Florida State University and has done postgraduate work at McGill University in Montreal, Universidad de las Americas in Mexico. Sandee has worked as had a serious studio practice for over 40 years as an an artist, art teacher & tutor, free-lance photographer and writer for over 40 years. She has lived and/or exhibited in 30 different countries, including; Pairs, Brussels, Tel Aviv, Tokyo, Seoul, Moscow, Shanghai, Geneva, Spain, Amsterdam, Rome, Budapest, Luxembourg, NYC, Stockholm, London, Bulgaria, Mexico, Seattle and Portland. She has attended artist residencies in the slums of St. Louis, Baupres Gallery in Mazatlan, Mexico, Hungary, NYC, Berlin, Germany. Her work can be found in public and private collections in continental Europe, England, Israel, Russia, Columbia, France, Hungary, Bulgaria, Mexico and the Caribbean. Sandee currently lives and has her studio in Asheville, NC.

    Refund Policies:
    Summer Workshops
    • A full refund is made when a student registers for a workshop that is canceled or already full at the time of registration.
    • An email or letter cancellation is required for withdrawals. Students who withdraw before April 30 receive a refund of the workshop deposit less a 25% registration & processing fee. Any housing and meal deposits will be refunded in full. 
    • If a cancellation is made after April 30, the deposit is forfeited, but a credit for the amount may be applied to another workshop that same calendar year. You may also transfer your deposit to a friend or family member for that same calendar year or make a   tax deductible donation   to Cullowhee Mountain ARTS. (There are some workshops that may have earlier cut off dates due to demand - this will be noted in your confirmation email.
    • Students who withdraw after May 1 even if workshop was paid in full, receive   no refund   but can transfer to another workshop during the calendar year or transfer their deposit to a friend or family member for that same calendar year or make a   tax deductible donation   to Cullowhee Mountain ARTS.  
    • If you are flying, we strongly recommend purchasing trip cancellation insurance from your travel agent in the event an unforeseen medical emergency.
