    Explore a rich array of print media including traditional and non-traditional: collagraph, chine colle, screenprinting, and monotype. This experimental printmaking workshop will  further develop your personal aesthetic and open doors of new notions of what can be achieved with expanding techniques and ideas. Master Printmaker, Jeff Hirst will direct students  towards experimental printmaking and mixing print media giving students one-on-one instruction as well as class reviews of work. While much technical information is covered in the class, the emphasis is on each artist’s individual vision and imagery. 

    Jeffrey Hirst
    has exhibited his work throughout the United States since the early 1990’s.  His work has been showcased at national and international venues including the Minneapolis Institute of Art; The Holter Museum, Helena, Montana; McLean Project for the Art, McLean, VA; ARC Gallery, Chicago, IL; McKinney Contemporary, Dallas, TX and Palazzo Dell’ Annunziata, Matera, Italy.

    He has been a visiting artist at universities around the United States conducting encaustic and printmaking workshops and has taught encaustic classes at Grand Maris Art Colony in MN, The Encaustic Center in TX, LaGrange Art League in IL, and The 6th International Encaustic Conference in Provincetown, MA.  Hirst also is the owner of Hirst Printmaking, a Printmaking shop specializing in Intaglio, Screenprinting, and Experimental Approaches towards combining printmaking and encaustic. 

     Hirst received his MFA from Louisiana State University and BFA from the University of Minnesota.  He is a recipient of a 2009 Minnesota State Arts Board grant and his work is in numerous public and private collections including Arcstone Technologies, Grant Thornton International, Great River Energy, Southern Graphics Council, and SAP America.

    Refund Policies:
    Summer Workshops
    • A full refund is made when a student registers for a workshop that is canceled or already full at the time of registration.
    • An email or letter cancellation is required for withdrawals. Students who withdraw before April 30 receive a refund of the workshop deposit less a 25% registration & processing fee. Any housing and meal deposits will be refunded in full.
    • If a cancellation is made after April 30, the deposit is forfeited, but a credit for the amount may be applied to another workshop that same calendar year. You may also transfer your deposit to a friend or family member for that same calendar year or make a  tax deductible donation  to Cullowhee Mountain ARTS. (There are some workshops that may have earlier cut off dates due to demand - this will be noted in your confirmation email.
    • Students who withdraw after May 1 even if workshop was paid in full, receive  no refund  but can transfer to another workshop during the calendar year or transfer their deposit to a friend or family member for that same calendar year or make a  tax deductible donation  to Cullowhee Mountain ARTS. 
    • We strongly recommend purchasing trip cancellation insurance from your travel agent in the event an unforeseen medical emergency.
