“NOW, THEREFORE, I, BARACK OBAMA, President of the United States of America, by virtue of the authority vested in me by the Constitution and the laws of the United States, do hereby proclaim October 2014 as National Arts and Humanities Month. I call upon the people of the United States to join together in observing this month with appropriate ceremonies, activities, and programs to celebrate the arts and the humanities in America”. (Read Entire Proclamation)
At Cullowhee Mountain ARTS we take time out during this important month to look back on the great events we hosted and take stock of those we are serving as a non-profit Arts Organization. It is also the time we invite the Arts community to join our “Arts Party” and become a member.

It feels like just yesterday that we began our third Summer Workshop Series, but here we are, five weeks later, wrapping up the final week. This year we ran 15 incredible workshops, including our first two Creative Writing workshops with writers Baron Wormser and Elaine Neil Orr. We are so pleased to have had such wonderful attendees this year that joined us not just locally and nationally, but internationally as well! This summer we were so excited to be able to give out three Art Educator Scholarships worth $1,200 to local teachers Gayle Woody, Chris Bell, and Kara Faust. Here are some highlights that you may have missed from the past five weeks:
“In just three years time, Cullowhee Mountain ARTS has become what the board and I had envisioned from the start - a place where artists - and now writers - can come and receive nourishment for their creative pursuits. Over and over students thanked me for creating a space for them to study with exquisite teachers and have their needs attended to, enabling them to concentrate solely on learning and growing. Again and again compliments were paid to the fabulous facilities at Western Carolina University’s School of Art and Design, the beauty of the campus and the gorgeous Blue Ridge Mountains. I am so very grateful to our stellar summer faculty of top notch artists and writers who gave so much to their students and for the students themselves who are now becoming part of the CMA family of friends and enthusiasts."
