This is an exceptional opportunity for visual artists to retreat, learn and share their perceptions and responses to the landscape of Taos - to have space and time to absorb a very special location that has inspired many artists, writers, dancers, and others who celebrated the arts. Those who come will bring their varied insights, observations and inspirations into the studio, making art as a response to the the environment. We will explore and create in the environs that nurtured the work of such luminaries as Georgia O’Keefe, D.H. Lawrence, Willa Cather, Ansel Adams and Martha Graham, in the very home that provided both haven and inspiration for so many; the Mabel Dodge Luhan House.

The Mabel Dodge Luhan House, also known as Big House, was the home of writer and arts advocate   Mabel Dodge Luhan  and became a haven for artists and writers of the early twentieth century. The house is one of the earliest examples of  Pueblo Revival  style in Taos. It was declared a  National Historic Landmark in 1991.

    Lodging is at the Historic
Mabel Dodge Luhan House & adjacent Juniper House
where guests were once  arts luminaries such as D.H. Lawrence, Aldous Huxley, Georgia O'Keefe, John Marin, Martha Graham, and Ansel Adams.

“Logic tells me that a house can’t make people come to it. But something about it and Mabel
    and its history has created
a kind of force field that continues to attract people.”

Your stay includes lodging, breakfast and lunch each day, an opening wine reception on arrival night, 5 gourmet dinners prepared by the amazing chefs at the MDL, around the clock access to the studio, and the enjoyment of the exquisite surroundings and field trips (click itinerary link above for full details).
